AN EXCITING
SUPER GT RACE WEEKEND

Kuala Lumpur, 12 June 2013 - A high profile list of local personalities and
celebrities will be in the driver's seat to compete in the inaugural RC 86
Celebrity Charity Race at the Sepang International Circuit in an event opener
for round 3 of the 2013 AUTOBACS SUPER GT Series.
A total of 14 cars will compete in the five-lap race in a fleet of
limited edition Toyota FT86 coupes that have been race-prepared to FIA Group N
regulations for showroom class cars.
"This is the first time these cars are being used in competition in
this part of the region and with the drivers we have lined up for the race,
it's going to be nothing short of exciting," said JPM Motorsport Managing
Director T.J. Chin adding that the line-up of drivers is will only be revealed
and is set to surprise the crowd on Sunday (June 16).
The Malaysian round of the AUTOBACS SUPER GT International Series is
being organised by JPM Motorsport and this will be the 13th
consecutive year that the Series is returning to Malaysia to thrill fans. It is also the 20th year the
Series, formerly known as the All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (JGTC),
is being organized since was first established in 1993 by the JAF (Japanese
Automobile Federation) via its subsidiary company the G.T.A. (GT Association).
While the main event will centre on what is internationally recognized
for being one of the world’s fastest and most exciting GT racing series,
consisting of GT500 and GT300 sports cars, the RC 86 Celebrity Charity Race is
an exciting extension to a wide varierty of off-track events which will be
taking place at the main mall area of Sepang International Circuit. The entire
mall area with an exhibition space of 7,000 sqm. has been designed to serve as
a five-star attraction for spectators or all ages and catering to both
motorsports enthusiasts and families.
As spectators enter the mall area, they will be greeted by and must pass
through a unique Japan Town created by Sachi which will essentially set the
vibrant atmosphere for the entire race weekend.
The recreation of watching a Japanese Racing event in Japan during
summer will host a variety of retail outlets selling food, apparels,
merchandise to electronics.
The main attraction at the Mall area will be a special motor show by
Affin Bank which will have on display Japanese Marquee like Honda, Toyota,
Nissan, Mazda and Subaru as well as European heavy weights the likes of
Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini. Also on display will be a unique collection
of Customs Cars and Bikes which are a prelude to Summernats, Australia’s
premier event for street machines, and exotic customs which will take place in
Malaysia and co-organised by JPM Motorsport in next year. Spectators will also
be able to meet in person, some of the metal stars (cars) that are featured in
the Hollywood Hit movie The Fast N' Furious.
Spectators to the AUTOBACS SUPER GT International Series will also be
able to witness a unique attempt to get into the Malaysia Book of Records with
the Biggest and Loudest Bike Gathering on track.
Spectators will also be entertained by the JPM Music Festival all day
long which will include musical and dance performances with a KPOP genre dance
competition, and the search for the Malaysian Super GT Queen Pageant.
The evening highlight will be the famous Dash Berlin World Tour 2013
which will also be making its stop at the AUTOBACS SUPER GT International
Series with a three-hour rave party set to mesmerize fans on Saturday night (15
June).
Meanwhile, outside the mall area, motorsports and auto enthusiasts can
also seize the opportunity to compete in grass root racing activities in the
form of the Ultra Racing Gymkhana & Drifting competition.
