[Upcoming Movie] Philomena
GSC Movies will be releasing the
heart-warming drama “Philomena” this coming 20th
February 2014.
Based
on the book “The Lost Child of Philomena Lee” by Martin
Sixsmith, the film tells the true story of Philomena Lee's
50-year-long search for her son. The book focuses more, as the title suggests,
on the life Michael/Anthony had after his adoption.
Philomena won Best Screenplay at
the 70th Venice International Film Festival and was nominated
for four Academy Awards (86th Academy Awards), including
for Best Picture, and Judi Dench (who plays Philomena)
for Best Actress, and was also nominated for four BAFTA
Awards (67th BAFTA Awards) and three Golden
Globes (71st Golden Globe Awards).

Synopsis:
When former journalist Martin Sixsmith was dismissed
from the Labour Party in disgrace, he was at a loss as to what do. That changes
when a young Irish woman approaches him about a story of her mother, Philomena,
who had her son taken away when she was a teenage inmate of a Catholic convent.
Martin arranges a magazine assignment about her search for him that eventually
leads to America. Along the way, Martin and Philomena discover as
much about each other as about her son's fate. Furthermore, both find their
fundamental beliefs challenged.
