spoke to MTV as part of documentary series The
Ride and revealed – amongst other things – a number of little known facts
about her rise to music stardom. Charli
XCX: The Ride premieres on MTV in
Asia on Saturday, 5 December at 3.30pm (MY).

Charli XCX
- Charli got her start in the London underground rave scene when she was 15 years old. The first rave she ever played was in a disused peanut factory in Hackney Wick, East London.
- The first few songs Charli ever wrote include “Fish & Chip Shop”, a song about going on a date to a fish & chip shop, and “I Want To Be Darth Vader”, which followed the same melody as the Star Wars The Imperial March
- Her stage name ‘Charli XCX’ was originated from her MSN Messenger screen name.
- Charli has a condition called synesthesia, and literally sees music as colours.
- Charli’s voice is still on the global smash track “I Love It”, which she wrote and gave to Swedish duo Icona Pop.
- Charli almost gave “Boom Clap” away to Hillary Duff. It went on to become her first solo #1 hit.
