[Coverage] A New World: Intimate Music From Final Fantasy @ Dewan Filharmonik Petronas
Kuala Lumpur, February 2016 – Still
remember my previous post regarding A
New World: Intimate Music From Final Fantasy? (Read my previous post here:

The
wonderful event just happened last Sunday and our team from wljack.com was given the great
opportunity to do a coverage on the event. It was a very beautiful musical
experience.
Chamber Ensembles Presenting the Iconic
Music In Well Loved Franchise!
As
we all know, Final Fantasy is a game
franchise which is not only popular for its great gameplay and spectacular
graphics, it’s also well known for its extraordinary themes and songs.
During
this wonderful afternoon, all of those beloved pieces including FINAL FANTASY X: ZANARKAND, FINAL FANTASY
VII: THOSE WHO FIGHT and FINAL
FANTASY VIII: FORCE YOUR WAY and etc were all presented through an intimate
ensemble of string quartets, piano, guitar solos, duos, trios and other mixed
groups of instrumentalists.
Masterpiece show conducted by ARNIE
ROTH!
The
classically trained conductor and GRAMMY
Award Winning artist Arnie Roth was
once again the conductor for the show of A
NEW WORLD: INTIMATE MUSIC FROM FINAL FANTASY. He was the conductor for the
other exclusive SQUARE ENIX production,
Distant Worlds which happened in Malaysia previously.
This
time around, apart from conducting, Arnie
has also taken part in performing violin alongside pianist Benyamin Nuss during the song of Final Fantasy XIII: The Promise/ Blinded By
Light. It was a wonderful performance as the melodic tunes were delivered
via such a great combination.
Battle Songs Heated Up The Crowd!
While
A New World is a more intimate and
personal encounter, the show has also featured many of fans favourite battle
themes like Final Fantasy IX: Final
Battle, Final Fantasy X: Final Battle and etc.
Kudos
to Benyamin Nuss for his impressive
skills in delivering those pieces in a fiery, passionate way. I believe all of
the fans would feel the heat and heart beating as the battle songs are being
played in such an outstanding way!
On
the other hand, the Musicians of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra has shown
us true professionalism in handling the scores and made the afternoon so a
memorable and enjoyable. Many thanks for giving us an exceptional LIVE
performance of our favourite themes!
ENCORE! SEPHIROTH!
It
would be utterly disappointing if this iconic theme is being dropped out from
the Final Fantasy music show. The
performing team never let us down as One-Winged
Angel was being featured as the encore song for the show!
An
interesting experience during this encore was that, Roth has actually asked the crowd to be the vocal for the chorus of
the song. Then, he started leading the musicians and the crowd in performing
the song. All of the audiences happily joined in and followed his command as we
were reaching the chorus and started singing-along with the one word, one very
magical word of…”SEPHIROTH!”
The
concert was an awesome one. It may not have a large scale like Distant Worlds but the great chamber
music experience remarkably leave a memorable impression for the audiences.
I
truly enjoyed the concert very much! Million thanks to Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) for giving us the
opportunity to attend the show!
