THE MPO PRESENTS 'FAMILY FILM FAVOURITES' CONCERTS AT DFP!
Kuala Lumpur, 2023 - The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) celebrates its 25th anniversary with Family Film Favourites, a series of family-themed concerts that combine the magic of the silver screen with the enchanting music of a 'live' orchestra on Saturday, 17 June 2023 at 11.30 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS, KLCC.
These concerts will be made even more memorable by the presence of a young Malaysian conductor, Jebat Arjuna Kee Jia Liang, on the podium. He will weave his magic with the MPO to transport the audience into a world of immersive film music through renowned and popular compositions meant to entertain audiences of all ages. Jebat, who is currently a violist with the MPO, has previously conducted the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, DC, the Charleston and Makris Symphony Orchestras, the Illinois Lyric Theatre, Milikin Opera Theatre, and the University of Illinois Philharmonia Orchestra. He received his Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he studied with Donald Schleicher. As a violist, he has performed at numerous summer festivals in the United States. He is also a chamber musician and a supporter of new music.
The concerts will also include Alasdair Malloy, a popular presenter who will interact with the audience as the show progresses. Malloy has become a recognisable face to Malaysian audiences throughout the years. Aside from the MPO, he has performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Opera North, Dublin's RTE Orchestra, and the London Mozart Players. He is a glass harmonic specialist who has performed in the United States, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Amsterdam, and Monte Carlo.
Remember Me (from 'Coco'), Moana Musical Highlights (from 'Moana'), Hero of Hogwarts (from 'Harry Potter'), Everything is Awesome Because We're Happy (from 'The Lego Movie' and 'Despicable Me'), A Frozen Fantasy (from 'Frozen'), and music from 'Star Wars' are among the works that will captivate the audience in these concerts.
