[Entertainment] MIFFest Project Market 2023 : “Shopping Mall Boy” wins the MIFFest Project Market 2023 Best Project Award, “Hold My Gaze” wins TAICCA Award

'Shopping Mall Boy' wins the MIFFest Project Market 2023 Best Project Award, while 'Hold My Gaze' wins the TAICCA Award.

Kuala Lumpur, 2023 – The two-day MIFFest Project Market (MPM) 2023 concluded successfully on Wednesday (26th July 2023) at Bougainvillaea 1, PARKROYAL COLLECTION KL. At the closing event, MIFFest Project Market presented the winners of the Best Project Award sponsored by Definitive Entertainment and the TAICCA Award sponsored by Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA). Congratulations to 'Shopping Mall Boy,' who won the Best Project Award and a cash prize of RM20,000; and, at the same time, 'Hold My Gaze,' which earned the TAICCA Award and a cash prize of USD 5,000.

'Shopping Mall Boy' is a coming-of-age drama film with a human interest theme. It will be directed by Sebastian Ng and produced by Lim Benji, both of whom are Malaysians. This cinematic project is still in the planning stages. 'Hold My Gaze' is a drama film that will be directed by Carlo Enciso Catu, a Pampanga-based Filipino director, and produced by Bradley Liew and April Batican. This film project is in the early stages of development funding.

MIFFest invited Malaysian jury members Shamin Yusof and Ryon Lee to this programme, who chose the Best Project Award of the year. Shamin Yusof is a well-known producer in Malaysia. She has produced acclaimed local films such as 'KL Special Force,' 'Kuasa,' and 'Special Force: Anarchy,' as well as many others.  Furthermore, Ryon Lee is well-known as a Malaysian director, screenwriter, and producer in numerous cinema productions. 'The Journey,' 'My Papa Rich,' 'Walk With Me,' and 'Small Town Heroes' are among them. Over the course of two days, they each conducted one-on-one pitching sessions with the ten selected concepts in order to attend the presentation of the top ten finalists.

This year, MIFFest Project Market 2023 received a large number of applications, demonstrating that MPM not only provides a forum for creative and young filmmakers to exhibit their ideas, but also allows numerous film financiers and producers to explore prospective collaboration opportunities, work, and screenplays. This is an excellent opportunity to recognise budding filmmakers, strengthen international co-production efforts, and display Malaysian cinema art on a global scale.

2023年MIFFest创投会议（MIFFest Project Market）在马来西亚吉隆坡PARKROYAL COLLECTION酒店的Bougainvillea 1成功落幕。在闭幕典礼上，主办方宣布年度【最佳企划】由马来西亚导演Sebastian Ng执导，Lim Benji制片的电影《Shopping Mall Boy》获得，该奖项由Definitive Entertainment赞助，现金奖高达2万令吉；而【TAICCA特别奖】则由菲律宾导演Carlo Enciso Catu执导，Bradley Liew和April Batican制作的电影《Hold My Gaze》获得，文化內容策進院为该片提供约2万令吉的现金奖（相当于美金5千元）。

《Shopping Mall Boy》和《Hold My Gaze》都是剧情类长片，目前正在筹备阶段。MIFFest创投会议今年邀请了本地电影人李勇昌（Ryon Lee）和Shamin Yusof担任评审团。Shamin Yusof是马来西亚著名制片人，监制过《KL Special Force》、《Kuasa》和《Special Force: Anarchy》等受欢迎的影片。而李勇昌（Ryon Lee）则是马来西亚导演、编剧和制片人，创作了许多电影作品，其中包括《一路有你》、《东主有喜》、《双魂》和《英雄假期》等。他们在为期两天的创投会议上与十部入选企划进行了一对一的会议。

主办方在闭幕典礼上提到，今年收到了许多企划的报名，这证明了MIFFest创投会议不仅为本地电影工作者提供了一个展示才华的平台，而且还有助于发掘和提拔新晋电影人，将马来西亚电影文化传播到国际舞台上。

Shamin Yusof在闭幕典礼上表示：“今年的参选作品非常精彩，我们对此感到非常兴奋和激动。虽然竞争很激烈，但我们只能从10个企划中选出一个获奖者。我非常欢迎未获奖的企划主创们来找我，我们还是可以一起探讨其他合作的可能性，因为你们真的很出色！”
