Jack Lim appointed as Deputy President of SJAM KSS Division

Kuala Lumpur, 2023 – Jack Lim received his appointment as the Deputy President of the St. John Ambulance Division for the Southern District of Selangor from Datuk Lai See Ming, the Commander-in-chief of the St. John Ambulance of Malaysia, at a charity dinner held at the Restoran Fui Chuai in Kajang.

The charity fundraising dinner, with a seating capacity of 85, was attended by members of the St. John Ambulance Division for the Southern District of Selangor, as well as notable figures like Member of Parliament for Hulu Langat, Syahredzan Johan, YB David Cheong, the National Commander of St. John Ambulance of Malaysia, Datuk Lai See Ming and etc.

The purpose of this evening was not only to raise funds for the activities of the St. John Ambulance Division for the Southern District of Selangor but also to promote awareness of the services provided by the St. John Ambulance and to encourage more individuals to join their ranks.

After receiving his appointment, Jack Lim emphasized his desire to use his influence to inspire more young people to join the St. John Ambulance. He said, "I was formally introduced to the St. John Ambulance of Selangor Southern District only two years ago when I was invited by my son's classmate's father. Back then, I was only helping to raise funds at the dinner, but I never thought that today I would formally join and be appointed as the Deputy President."

He mentioned that he had previously been a member of the St. John Ambulance during his schooling but left the organization to focus on training with the state's gymnastics team. He stated, "I have always encouraged those around me to learn the correct first aid techniques because this skill benefits more people. The St. John Ambulance is the best avenue for learning these skills." Therefore, in his new role, Jack Lim plans to assist the division in creating more informative first aid videos, especially as many people nowadays rely on video content for learning.

Before the dinner commenced, Jack Lim also participated in the launch of a mobile clinic bus. This mobile clinic bus, donated by strategic partners, the Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur Bukit Bintang and Hino Motors Malaysia, is equipped with four passenger seats, two examination rooms, and medical equipment.

Since 2016, the St. John Ambulance Division for the Southern District of Selangor has been operating a mobile clinic by converting small trucks to provide medical services to over 4,000 indigenous people, nursing homes, orphanages, special-needs children, and vulnerable groups in disaster-stricken and rural areas. The spacious mobile clinic bus is expected to facilitate the transportation of larger medical teams to serve more people. 

During the charity auction at the dinner, Jack Lim urged more generous contributions to improve the medical facilities on the mobile clinic bus. After a bidding session, a total of RM58,888 was raised for the activities fund of the St. John Ambulance Division for the Southern District of Selangor.

Jack Lim expressed his gratitude to all successful individuals who supported the St. John Ambulance Division for the Southern District of Selangor and hoped that this spirit and ideology could be passed on. He stated, "Whether it's providing material assistance, financial help, or volunteering, I hope that more young people will step forward and join the St. John Ambulance Division for the Southern District of Selangor."

林德荣于8月26日，在2023年雪兰莪州南区圣约翰救伤队慈善晚宴上，从马来西亚圣约翰救伤队总指挥官拿督赖斯明手中接受了雪兰莪州南区圣约翰救伤队区副会长的委任状。

这个慈善晚宴在加影斐翠大酒楼举办，共设有85个座位。出席者包括了雪兰莪州南区圣约翰救伤队的全体成员，以及万宜国会议员谢瑞詹 (Syahredzan Johan)、加影区州议员张睷洋、大马圣约翰救伤队全国总指挥官拿督赖斯明、全国行动总参谋长胡伟达、雪州圣约翰救伤队指挥官林运乐，以及来自雪州各个地区的圣约翰救伤队代表等等。

这次晚宴的目的不仅是为了筹集雪兰莪州南区圣约翰救伤队的活动基金，还希望通过这个机会让更多人了解圣约翰救伤队的服务，并呼吁更多有志之士加入他们的行列。

接过委任状后，林德荣强调了他的愿望，希望能够通过自己的力量鼓励更多年轻人加入圣约翰救伤队。他说：“我是在两年前受到儿子同学父亲的邀请，才正式接触雪兰莪州南区圣约翰救伤队。当时，我只是帮忙在晚宴上呼吁大家捐款，却没想到今天自己会正式加入，并被委任为副主席。”

他还提到，自己在读书时曾经加入过圣约翰救伤队，但后来为了专心进行体操州队的训练，离开了圣约翰救伤队。“我一直都在鼓励身边的人学习正确的急救方法，因为这项技能可以让更多人受益，而圣约翰救伤队正是学习这些技能的最佳途径。”因此，他表示他上任后将会协助区会制作更多有关急救的小视频，以便现在更多以视频为主的人民可以学习正确的急救方法。

在晚宴开始前，林德荣还参加了流动诊所巴士的推介礼。这个流动诊所巴士是由战略合作伙伴吉隆坡白沙罗狮子会和马来西亚日野汽车捐赠的，内设有4个乘客座位、2个问诊室和医疗设备。

雪兰莪州南区圣约翰救伤队自2016年开始，就已经将小型客货车改装成流动诊所，为超过4000名原住民、老人院、孤儿院、特殊儿童和弱势群体提供医疗服务。这次的流动诊所巴士因为空间更大，可以容纳更多医疗团队，为更多人提供服务。雪兰莪州南区圣约翰救伤队指挥官龚明在接受采访时也表示，这个流动诊所巴士将会提供牙科和眼科医疗服务，并预计在今年底开始运营。

在晚宴的拍卖会上，林德荣呼吁更多人慷慨解囊，以改善流动诊所巴士上的医疗设施。最终，在一轮竞投后，筹集到了雪兰莪州南区圣约翰救伤队活动基金共计58,888令吉。

林德荣对所有成功人士对雪兰莪州南区圣约翰救伤队的支持表示感激，也希望这种力量和理念可以传承下去。他说：“无论是提供物资、金钱的帮助，还是成为志愿者，我都希望有更多年轻人能够站出来加入雪兰莪州南区圣约翰救伤队。”
