[Coverage] TAIWAN BEATS MUSIC INDUSTRY NETWORKING (MUSIC INDUSTRY NETWORKING 座谈会 - 臺馬雙邊演出市場發展與潛力)

Kuala Lumpur, 2024 – Last week, approximately 80 business representatives and artist teams from Taiwan's music industry arrived in Malaysia with the mission "Gateway to Taiwan". Their goal was to promote the current status and future development of Taiwan's music industry and introduce it to the Southeast Asian pop music market. Through in-depth exchanges and networking with local businesses, record companies, and artists, they hoped to lay a solid foundation for future collaboration between both parties.

This visit was a part of the Pop Music Expansion to Southeast Asia Market Project 「流行音樂拓展東南亞市場計畫」" by Taiwan’s Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development. The Taiwanese delegates included many renowned record companies and music brands, such as 口米寶貝, 山下民謠, 相遇音樂, 奧少年, 好友音像, 飛鷹娛樂, 嵐澄創意, 歐逼, 鯤島起義 and etc. In addition, teams from famous music festivals such as 春浪, 浪人祭, 大港開唱 and 吾夜, as well as professional performance spaces and production companies like 卡夫卡, 彌聲, 必應創造, and 南炬文娛 with a total of 23 business representatives, actively participated in the exchange activities.

On Tuesday (30/1/2024), a symposium centered on Taiwanese music was held in Kuala Lumpur, with invited speakers including the co-founder of Super Fun Entertainment, 管啟源, the founder of Ban Huat Sdn. Bhd,  Dato’ Maw, the director of Zepp Kuala Lumpur and Zepp New Taipei, 本多真一郎 (Shinichiro Honda), and the founder of Emerge Fest, 陳信宏 . The discussion topics encompassed the current state of the music markets in Taiwan and Malaysia, the situation of Malaysian Chinese pop music, Malaysian hip-hop music and performance trends, and experiences of performing at Malaysian music festivals.

Beyond business exchanges, on the previous Sunday (28/1/2024), Ban Huat x Emerge Fest 2024 has taken place featuring performances by six Taiwanese hip-hop artists. These included the frequently nominated rapper 國蛋 (GorDoN),蛋頭 (BG8LOCC), 阿跨面 (Aquaman), the up-and-coming group BAD STRAIT BOYZ, the West Coast hip-hop duo 西屯純愛組 (High-Loc & Henry), and the nostalgic 李紅 (REDLEE). In addition, the festival organizers invited a diverse array of new voices from Taiwan's rap scene, including the recent winners of the Best Live Performance at the 2023 Golden Indie Music Awards (GIMA), Gummy B and wannasleep's hip-hop duo "夜間限定 (NIGHTONLYSTUDIO)" and former TPE48 member 林潔心 (ddkogi88). The wave of Taiwanese hip-hop music swept over Malaysia, showcasing the unique style and charm of the new generation of Taiwanese hip-hop.

上週，來自臺灣音樂產業的約80位商務代表和藝人團隊抵達馬來西亞，他們以「Gateway to Taiwan」為宗旨，目標是推廣臺灣音樂產業的當前狀況和未來發展，並將其介紹到東南亞的流行音樂市場中。藉由與當地業者、唱片公司及藝人進行深入的交流和媒合，他們期望為雙方未來的合作奠定良好的基礎。

此次訪問是臺灣文化部影視及流行音樂產業局「流行音樂拓展東南亞市場計畫」的一部分。代表臺灣的參與者包括眾多知名唱片公司和音樂品牌，如口米寶貝、山下民謠、相遇音樂、奧少年、好友音像、飛鷹娛樂、嵐澄創意、歐逼、鯤島起義等。此外，春浪、浪人祭、大港開唱和吾夜等著名音樂節的策展團隊，以及如海邊的卡夫卡、彌聲、必應創造和南炬文娛等專業展演空間和製作公司，共有23家業者代表積極參與了這次的交流活動。

在1月30日，吉隆坡舉行了以臺灣音樂為主題的座談會，特邀嘉賓包括大茶飯娛樂經紀的共同創辦人管啟源、萬發（大馬）創辦人Dato’ Maw、Zepp Kuala Lumpur與Zepp New Taipei的總經理本多真一郎，以及浮現祭創辦人陳信宏。此次座談會的討論焦點圍繞臺灣與馬來西亞的音樂產業現狀、馬來西亞華語流行音樂的發展、嘻哈音樂與音樂表演的趨勢，還有馬來西亞音樂節的表演經歷等議題。

除了商業對話，上週日（1月28日），萬發和浮現祭共同主辦了一場音樂盛典 （可按这个Link: https://www.wljack.com/2024/02/concert-coverage-ban-huat-x-emerge-fest.html  ,阅读此演唱会报道），臺灣有六組嘻哈藝術家參與表演。包括多次獲得金音創作獎提名的Hip-Hop詩人國蛋GorDoN、Trap音樂的先鋒蛋頭BG8LOCC、《大嘻哈時代2》的冠軍得主阿跨面Aquaman、新星組合BAD STRAIT BOYZ、來自西海岸的嘻哈雙人組High-Loc & Henry，以及帶著懷舊情懷的李紅REDLEE。音樂節的組織者還特邀了2023年金音創作獎最佳現場演出得主Gummy B和wannasleep組成的夜間限定NIGHTONLYSTUDIO，以及前TPE48團員林潔心ddkogi88等多元風格的臺灣新生代饒舌歌手。這場活動不僅帶動了臺灣嘻哈音樂在馬來西亞的熱潮，也向當地展示了新一代臺灣嘻哈藝術家的獨特風格與魅力。
