[Local Entertainment] Journey To Homeland 2 《新村之后》第二季 – Press Conference

Kuala Lumpur, 2024 – The second season of the documentary series on culture and cuisine, "Journey To Homeland," produced by 8TV and Tonton, is set to premiere on 2nd March 2024 airing every Saturday at 9 PM. Host Jack Tan (Ah Zhe) will once again guide viewers through the beauty of Malaysia's new villages.

The new season of "Journey To Homeland" continues the focus on Malaysia's new villages, exploring local cuisine and crafts. The series will highlight the development and culture of these villages, as well as the trend of young people returning to their rural roots. Host Ah Zhe will engage with the locals, collecting stories and participating in activities like fruit picking and handicrafts to deeply experience the village lifestyle.

At the media launch, Ah Zhe made an appearance to promote the show. He revealed that the production of this season took six months and was completed in four stages. "As I was also filming a movie during this period, viewers will notice fluctuations in my weight and hair length," he said. He added, "While the previous season focused more on cultural stories and cuisine, this season incorporates more of my personal style and adventure elements, offering a fresh perspective. Additionally, we've increased the number of guests from two or three to five per episode, allowing more individuals to share their stories from the new villages."

Jack Tan mentioned the challenges faced this season, notably the diversity of languages, including Malay, Hokkien, and Teochew, which often led him to seek help from the director. Filming in Kelantan was particularly challenging as even the local Chinese community spoke Malay, and specifically the Kelantanese dialect. He encountered a Malaysian national treasure, a master of shadow puppetry, and had to communicate in Malay to connect with him, which was quite nerve-wracking for him. Moreover, Jack shared his experiences of trying different jobs during the show, including harvesting pineapples, which led to a few painful incidents, such as getting hit by a pineapple and getting his hair caught while bending down.

Discussing the transition from actor to host, Jack Tan shared his insights, highlighting the importance of "sense of life." He believes that interactions with people of various ages and diverse experiences on the show have enriched his understanding of life, which in turn enhances his performances.

This season's "Journey To Homeland" was filmed in various locations in Kuala Lumpur, Pahang, Perlis, Perak, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan, Selangor, Seremban, Malacca and etc.

在分享他从演员转型为主持人的经历时，阿哲强调了“生活感”的重要性。阿哲分享了他的收获与心得，“作为演员，最重要的就是‘生活感’。节目中与长辈、年轻人等交流、以及不同的体验，都是一种养分，让我更懂得去感受生活，然后更好地放进表演里面。”
