[Featured Interview] Interview with Ali Lee 李佳芯 at mtm labo Events in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, 2024 – Ali Lee recently came to Malaysia for the grand unveiling of mtm labo in Pavilion Damansara Heights and Suria KLCC last weekend.

During the recent mtm labo event in Malaysia, our chief editor Jack (who is also one of the biggest Ali’s fans in Malaysia) had the opportunity to participate in a media interview with the ever-charming Ali Lee 李佳芯. With her radiant smile and down-to-earth demeanor, Ali shared insights into her current projects, future plans, and her thoughts on her long-standing career with TVB.

Negotiations with TVB

Ali revealed that she is currently in contract negotiations with TVB. "There are no new updates yet," she mentioned. "After completing '麻雀乐团' , I plan to take a break and currently have no other work arrangements."

Return to Filming After Two Years

Ali has recently returned to the set after nearly two years. She shared that while she felt at ease with the filming process and the studio environment, those around her seemed more anxious than she was. "Every time I give my best effort, but after filming, I don't think too much about it. It's actually the people around me who are more nervous," she said. "I've been with TVB for almost ten years now, so it's a very familiar environment with familiar people. I quickly adjusted, though my sleep schedule is tighter. I'm trying my best to take care of myself."

Transforming for Her Role

In her latest project, Ali had to cut her long hair short for her role, a change she is still getting used to. She also discussed the challenge of portraying her younger self, aged 17 to 21, in the new series. "Every time I have to play a younger version of myself, I get a bit nervous. But the producer insisted that I should do it," she said with a laugh.

Ali’s a Mahjong Expert?

The new drama revolves around mahjong and music. Ali mentioned that her mahjong skills are quite good, having played with her mother and grandmother since she was young. "At least I've never flipped the table after losing a game," she joked. However, she admitted that she has no involvement in any singing throughout this drama.

Interest in Filming in Malaysia

With many Hong Kong artists coming to Malaysia for filming in recent years, Ali expressed her interest in joining them. "I would love to work in different places if there are opportunities to," she said.

Charity Involvement

Ali also shared her enthusiasm for participating in charity events. "If there are any charity events that fit my schedule, I would gladly take part," she said.

Health and Recovery

Recently, Ali posted an Instagram story showing a heart sign at the airport despite looking tired. When asked if she had enough rest, she reassured that she is now well-rested and has recovered from a recent illness that caused her a few days of fever.

Balancing Acting and Writing

Apart from her acting career, Ali is also a book author. However, she mentioned that her current focus is 100% entirely on her acting projects. "Maybe after this, I will consider returning to book writing," she concluded.

Ali also shared some heartfelt moments with her Malaysian fans during the event.
