"Tenement" follows the story of Soriya, a Japanese-Cambodian manga artist who travels to Cambodia after her mother's death to uncover her family's past. As she settles into her mother's former apartment, Soriya becomes entangled in a sinister ritual involving the building's residents and an evil spirit.

Director Inrasothythep Neth revealed during the post-screening Q&A session that the film's concept was inspired by the human desire to belong. Neth explained. This theme is powerfully embodied in the character of Soriya, whose migrant background serves as a lens through which to examine these complex ideas.

The film's setting, a tenement building steeped in history, plays a crucial role in creating the film's eerie atmosphere. During the Q&A session, Thorn shared insights into her role and the challenges she faced during filming. She revealed that one of her most demanding tasks was juggling between speaking Japanese and Cambodian throughout the film.
